If your builder is willing to use or provide you an illegal copied set of plans, what else would they be unethical about?
Whether you get your home plans from us or another reputable website, the cost you pay for plans that you will build your complete home from will, more than likely, be less costly than the cost of your bathtub.
What does copyright mean?
A short definition of copyright is that copyright is the legal rights of the owner of the intellectual property created. The things that you create, such as art, music, literature and home plans are intellectual property and protected by copyright. Copyright happens as soon as an original work is started & created. Protection is given to the author of the work not only in Canada, but also extends to other countries that are covered by an international copyright treaty. Misconceptions about copyright infringement.
It is commonly misunderstood that once you purchase a product that is copyrighted, such as a Home Plan, that you may copy, resell, build multiple buildings or do with it what you wish. Any of these infringements would be in violation of the copyright laws and could result in legal action. The use of any material from this website including pictures, drawings, or floorplans, is illegal without the permission from the author/owner.
How many times can I use a plan?
When you purchase a set of plans, you are given the license to construct one building only. If you would like to construct more homes from a set of plans, just contact us for a "Multi Build" license.
No you may not copy, change, or modify a home plan without the consent of the copyright holder, E-Designs.
