- Some key differences between a Canadian plan and a plan designed for the US.
The key difference between our house plans for Canada and those for the USA lies in the construction and insulation standards. All of our Canadian home plans are designed with 2x6 stud exterior walls and R-22 insulation, compared to the typical 2x4 stud exterior walls and R-12 insulation commonly used in the USA. Additionally, our Canadian designs include R-22 insulated joist spaces, insulated lintels, and energy-heel (raised-heel) trusses at no extra cost
Most of our house plans also feature full basements, constructed using either Concrete with a 2x6 insulated frost wall or designed using ICF (Insulated Concrete Form) at no additional cost. Some designs offer alternatives such as crawl spaces or insulated slabs on grade. If a different foundation type is required, modifications can be made to accommodate specific needs.
